Motion Sickness by Oliver X, star5

January 14th, 2007 4:48 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Spend the night on a boat! To those seeking loopholes: you must actually be on the water - from there you may do as you like (fish, don't fish, sing to the moon...).

I just returned from spending 4 nights on a boat in the caribbean with Oliver X. I did in fact get motion sickness at first (Oliver apparently never gets motion sickness). Luckily I gave in to the insistant urgings of a fellow shipmate to take some dramamine. Those first few days we quite windy, but after not so long, I was making pb & j sandwiches while under sail, swaying back and forth. Once i got used to it, it was quite fun.

The sleeping quarters were cozy and quickly became warm. I would open windows, but then have to shut them repeatedly when rain sprinkled in. The lulling waves would rock me to sleep, yet somehow i never dreamed of water or boats.

Returning back home, I seem to have brought the waves with me. 2 days later, I still dreamt of boats and could feel my room swaying around me a bit. That's pretty much stopped, but still I feel a little off balance.

It was a fun experience, even if I got a sore back from the not-so comfortable bed.

Sailing is such an amazing thing. I've never sailed outside of the Great Lakes - I hope to go to the Caribbean some day. Very, very cool.
