Remove A Task: The Task by Orion

July 17th, 2006 1:49 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: The mechanics of SF0 depend sensitively on the distribution of tasks and points. Too many easy tasks and high level players will neglect the hard tasks. Too few, and players will be unable to reach the difficult tasks.

Help restore balance to the game by nominating a task for retirement. Your nomination should review all completions of the task, including highlights and low points, and assess what we collectively can learn from this task.

There are a few tasks (Tag With del.icio.us, Giving Back, Wikipedia, Crash a New Year's Party Not On New Year's Eve, Relocate to San Francisco, etc; etc;) that I'm not sure contribute to the ultimate goals of the game or that have served their purpose and should be "archived". At the same time, I think this task might be one of those and I'm only hopping into it for shameless points rather than using the "Feedback" button. So, I'll officially nominate "Remove a Task: The Task" for removal or archival as I'd rather this sort of discussion take place outside of the game itself and leave the task lists for interminably interesting ideas...

I agree that del.icio.us, Giving Back, Wikipedia, Crash/NYE, Relocate and others can be archived, but I do not think the "Remove a Task" should be removed. Keep in mind this part of the description:

Your nomination should review all completions of the task, including highlights and low points, and assess what we collectively can learn from this task.

I felt that my work on this task is probably the bare-minimum requirements and the other people that have completed this task are also at bare-minimum or below the requirements.

Right now we're cleaning out the crap riffraff of tasks. This task will become more interesting on larger tasks and I think that thorough research, evaluation and conclusions as to how specific tasks impact this game should earn 15 points.
