Personal Ads 1 by Paper Airplane

September 23rd, 2006 8:30 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Collect 5-10 personal ads from various newspapers, and study them. Record the newspapers, ad numbers, and texts here as proof.

I couldn't NOT use this first ad:
http://portlandmercury.selectalternatives.com/gyrobase/Personals/Profile?person=oid%3A389990

My favorite bits from this -
"The quickest way to my bed is by asking"
Wow, that says a lot. I can't say that's something that I would have advertised, whether it was true or not. I don't think the results would be pleasant. Also, I like the toilet in the background of her main picture. Classy.

this next one is from wweekly:
men seeking women
"HERE'S MY FORMULA...
for a match...what is yours ? At the minimum you'll be amused !
H(inches)x5 - W(lbs) + IQ - ($ owed on car/50) + (car type adjust; prestige=-3; practical=+3; PU or 4wd=+5) >300 ? Me 5-11 avg 49 active, professional, traveled, mannered.
1621 (10/18/06)"

Complicated this ad is. I really like the application of the car loan debt as part of the formula. I am not really sure what that says about him...but it makes this ad stand out nonetheless.

Next: no strings attached Men Wanting Men:
"Attractive, well-hung, submissive, panty boy desperately seeking mature well-endowed, disciplinarian for discrete encounters.
8444 (10/5/06)"
I like the man on man personals because they get right to the point. No candy coating.

This one starts off:
"So Ive been here for around 6 months now. It seems that most people here are too stuck up thier own ass to be accessable or like me, they are just reserved and weary of potential wierdo wannabes."
I find this interesting since I haven't had this kind of experience in Portland. I guess it has to do with who you know, and how you are introduced to the city. Experience is everything. But, I find that people in Portland are pretty welcoming and friendly...almost to a frightening degree. I, myself, dash away at the first sneeze or bright light...I am a skittish rabbit.

In conclusion, from the wweek...a chance meeting ad:
"Hi Portland! I miss you! Love, Peggy! (IN MPLS)
1522 (10/4/06)"
This is the sweetest thing, so I have to end it here.
