Paradise Found by Xena, Mayonnaise Prince

January 11th, 2009 1:49 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Surrealist poet Louis Aragon said "All paradises are artificial." Select an artificial paradise you find interesting and document its existence.

THE MAYO PRINCE'S MAYO-LESS BUT CHEESY DOCUMENTATION STARTS HERE. PRZ TO BE WARNED.

ar⋅ti⋅fi⋅cial
     - adjective
  • made by human skill; produced by humans

par⋅a⋅dise
     - noun
  • heaven, as the final abode of the righteous.
  • an intermediate place for the departed souls of the righteous awaiting resurrection.
  • Eden
  • a place of extreme beauty, delight, or happiness.

Every year, I go to numerous conventions at man-made (or artificial!) places. Some are held in fairly large entertainment centers, others at small hotels and public parks. Normally, I wouldn't consider a single one of them a "paradise," as I find them dull, unattractive, and in no way related to my happiness.

Around convention time, however, these places are transformed into lively mixes of colors, sounds, smells (both pleasant and unpleasant), and culture, mainly a weirdnerdycrazylamecloset culture.

It's during these spans of 1, 2, 3, and sometimes even deliciously 4 days that I find myself having the most fun, seeing the prettiest things, and being crazy TO THE EXTREMEEEEEEEEEE.

Paradise for me is:

The People,

The Costumes,

The Shiny Merchandise(?!),

and, uh... things that cannot be explained.

For me, anime and comic conventions are my artificial paradise. They're truly artificial, since it's not the buildings that make the convention but the people that attend.

Thank you Anime Los Angeles 2009~ <3

Now I need to start sewing for Fanime.

TALES OF XENA THE WARRIOR PRINCESS:

Hrm.... well basically I tend to tag along with Prince Mayo to all these conventions...and unfortunately I didn't have the time to make an outfit in time for this one.....

But I must agree....it is paradise indeed. And you can refer to Mayo's depiction to add to my perceptions.

Watching people spend countless hours and cans of hairspray to style the most insane wigs I've ever seen, only to ultimately destroy the ozone layer is certainly a plus....

And of course I can enjoy a rooster once in awhile

Maybe I'll even date this guy

But...I believe the true point of paradise for me....was..................

THE FREE RAMEN.

I honestly don't know what comes over me when I see ramen and then get told that it is free. But my overwhelming desire to simply hold ramen was.......well....picture perfect?
