Renew An Old Correspondence by Red Warrior

July 4th, 2006 12:35 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to someone that you or your character has not heard from in a long time.

As I write this, I'm talking with one of my most amazing friends ever. I met Alex while attending a summer session at UC Santa Cruz and we immediately bonded...after a period of awkward shyness on my part. She and I have maintained a bare minimum relationship these past 6 years, mostly due to my laziness in correspondence, by emailing once every year or two. Anyway, she just IM'd me out of the blue and we made a committment to keep in better contact--one that had been tacit ever since the summer of '00, but has now been verbalized and cemented by the sharing of official email addresses, myspace friend approvals, facebook address (on her part), and flickr account (on my part). It was weird because she was the first person I thought of when I saw this task, but hadn't got around to actually starting a letter to.

It was great to speak with her again because after the initial hihowareyou's we began talking again as if no time had passed at all.

When were you at UCSC? What school? Just curious. My wife and I were talking about this task today and she was mentioning that she's lost touch with some old UC Santa Cruz friends. It's a long shot, but it would be pretty funny if you actually knew each other. You would definitely get extra points for that. ;-)
