Wrong Direction by Sidecar Idol

June 4th, 2008 6:49 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: When leaving to go somewhere, go the opposite way.

Work to the left? Go right.

Wedding? Funeral? Date?

Go in the wrong direction.

Make sure the destination you will miss/be late to is fairly important.

Last night was supposed to be a busy evening. I was committed to running a bunch of errands for a colleague and then had plans to meet friends for drinks. I wasn't really feeling up to doing any of it. I was feeling kinda down.
I had read somewhere that "turning left can solve anything." I felt like I needed a little solving so I decided to see if this was true. Instead of going straight toward my first errand destination I took my first left. Then I took my first left again. I did this continuously which resulted in me walking in a small square for a very long time.

I passed this telephone poll 29 times.

After walking in a square for about an hour and a half I came to the conclusion that turning left does not actually solve much of anything. Though wasting that much time doing something so ridiculous did make me feel different. And I guess when you're feeling low, feeling different helps.
I then went on to do my errands though I was running to late to ever meet up with friends.

Sock Puppets often waste time doing ridiculous things.

Sweet repetition

I can imagine the pole saying "none shall pass" and you scoffing every time.

But really, what's behind the door it guards?
