The Great Burrito Exchange by Spun Lepton

October 2nd, 2006 9:21 AM

INSTRUCTIONS:

Surprise a friend by giving them an amazing Burrito. Document why you picked that friend, why did they deserve That Burrito, and how the rest of the day was spent eating The Burrito (be sure you get one for yourself too!).

OR

Group up with some friends. Pick a nice day and a nice park (close to 24th and Mission maybe?). Have each person get an awesome Burrito. Exchange The Burritos at the park. Enjoy them together.

Last Sunday, my friends Manda and Danray took me to see Jackass Number Two at Minneapolis's downtown hot-spot, "Block E." (Block E: Now you can go downtown without ever feeling like you've left the suburbs!)

After the film, we wandered up to Nicollet, at which point the subject of food or "eatings" came up. Mexican was decided upon, and thus I devised a clever plan! Since they were so kind to provide some snacks for the movie, and since they're both awesome people, I would buy them each an awesome burrito. I encouraged both of them to consider ordering burritos. Manda mentioned the place we were going to, Salsa a la Salsa, had some awesome mole sauce for their burritos, so we were golden.

But, I didn't have my camera with me! Well, I *suppose* I could use my cell phone's crappy camera. It would have to do in a pinch.

We reached the restaurant right around dusk. We ordered our food, (Manda: Salsa a la Salsa burrito with chicken and mole. Me: Salsa a la Salsa burrito with veggies and mole. Danray: Pork tenderloin. Danray was not a team player!)

The food arrived and it was indeed quite amazing. I mean, astounding. No, damn it, I mean AWESOME. There was much plate-licking. We had ice cream for dessert. It was also astonishing.

While Danray did not *actually* participate, I purchased his meal for him, too. But, the stipulation was that if I ever ended up at the hospital he will one day work at, I would get a complimentary colostomy bag.
