Examination/Evaluation/Explaination:

My aquisitions break down into three basic categories: 1)things to put on my body, 2)things to put in my body, and 3)reading material. Most of the books were rather unusal aquisitions. They were primarily academic texts from the collection of Alan Dundes, which I got for free. The mermaid book was one I'd been wanting for a long time and finally found a used copy (it's out of print). Because of all the free books, I did more aquiring this week than on an average week. I just couldn't pass them up. The "Sunday Gorey Sunday" tickets were an unusual purchase as well--but again, I can't pass up an Edward Gorey related event. Okay, so in looking over my purchaces/aquisistion, it seems I'm not very good at passing things up in general. The groceries I needed, but most of the other things, although they're nice to have, aren't necessary. Also, I'm a bit of a collector, although I hate to admit it. For instance, I'll probably keep the pictures of secretaries that my great uncle sent me, even though I probably won't look at them very often (unless I put them in some sort of art piece). I also learned that Target is a dangerous place for me to go. When I got the two tops on Sunday, I originally went to Target to return things! I've always thought of myself as a person who doesn't buy a lot of stuff, and who doesn't want to buy a lot of stuff. But when I actually have to write down everything I aquire, my aquisitive habits look different than I imagine them.
