Find something. Write about it. by Stone Saints

I found this salmon spine in my sink after my husband made himself dinner. He's been eating a lot of canned salmon lately, and there's always one of these in there. But it was still kind of weird to see it just lying there in the sink. It used to be inside a fish that was swimming around in some river (or maybe around a fish farm). His spine moved as he swam. Then that fish was caught, he was killed, his scales were scraped from his body. He was cleaned and cooked and cut up. He was put in a can. The can made its way to the grocery store where my husband bought it. My husband opened the can and the fish re-entered the world. His spine was removed and placed in the sink, where I took a picture of it. In different ways, that salmon became a part of my life and my husband's. What a strange journey.

It did, actually. And yeah, it is kinda creepy, especially when I look at the picture...ugh.
