November 1st, 2006 4:10 PM
As part of our "Mad Hatter Night" centered around the "Fun Hats" task we also did this task.
We split up into two groups, one with three members and one with two. We decided to split on national lines and have a Dutch vs. American competition, the Dutch team having three members consisting of:
And the American team consisting of:
We began the task in the Waterhole on Leidse plein and set out from there. We met back at the Leidse plein just shy of an hour and a half later with our photos.
We have created a Pool on flickr here to house all the photos from the task to allow you to judge for yourself which team won the competition. The photos are tagged with "The American Team" and "The Dutch Team" as well as any of the requirements that the photo meets. We would very much appreciate it if you would comment with your vote as to which team won the competition as both teams feel that they took the superior photos.
The Dutch Team feels that their best photo is their text entry:

It is a fine photo to be sure. They would like to note that it was a hard shot since the timeout on the back light on the phones was different and they also had to do zooming and other tricks to get the phones to show the letters.
The American Team feels that their best photo is the portrait entry:

It is also a very fine photo to be sure. The American's would like you to note that they feel that the quality and composition of their photos is overall better.
The American team had a small disadvantage with one less team member but made up for it with a nicer camera. The dutch team took all but one of their photos on a camera phone while the American's had a nice Cannon Digital SLR. Please consider these factors in your voting.
But most of all please comment with your vote for the winner of our competition!
