Wearable Art by Tom Barringer, Water Dragon, Bas Moniker

October 29th, 2006 6:00 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a normal item of clothing (shirt, hat, shoes, pants, etc.) out of something that isn't fabric and does NOT involved sewing with thread.

You (or someone) must be able to wear it.

for proof:

1. tell what materials you used and what you constructed your clothing article with.

2. submit a photo of the materials before

3. submit a photo of the completed project, preferable being worn in a public area.

I choose to combine this task with the "Fun Hats" task by making a hat completely out of paper and tape. I ended up adding a ribbon and a twist tie before I was done with the hat.

Attached is a photo of the basic materials. I didn't end up using any staples and I added some purple paper that I forgot to photograph, a twist tie and some duct tape.

Here is a photo of the hat in progress.

Here is a photo of the rose in progress. I used the twist tie to hold the parts of the rose together:

Here is my favorite photo of somebody wearing the finished hat:

And here is a photo of me wearing the hat:

I have included Bas Moniker as a collaborator for providing the duct tape and the twist tie I used. I have included Tom Barringer as a collaborator for providing encouragement to dress it up more when I was ready to call it finished.

This hat is really beautiful to me and I will wear it out quite a lot I know.
