Leave Clues by Frostbeard

INSTRUCTIONS: Leave clues.

Here we are again. Task task task away. So, for this one, i figured i'd leave clues to a gift that i would hide near one of my friend's home. We used to see each other a lot in high school, but once i went to college that sort of dwindled down to seeing him only a couple times a year. Now, even though i'm back in the area and he lives a town over, i haven't seen him in about 2 years.

When we were growing up he used to listen to a LOT of Ozzy. I would never have listened to as much Ozzy if it wasn't for the large amounts of time spent at his place. Given that i have just recently worked a show in which i received a backstage crew shirt for Ozzy's latest tour, and that i didn't particularly want the shirt, i figured that he would be a good recipient.

I took the shirt, folded it, and wrapped it in newspaper acquired as gift wrapping for a mask purchased for me in Sri Lanka. I figured that would add some extra weirdness to the situation. Then i duct taped it up, duct taped a note to it, and headed on over to his place. Once i arrived, i drove slowly by and was fortunate to find that there were no cars in the driveway. I parked my car down the road from his house, pulled a hood up over my head, and walked down to the end of his driveway. Seeing no signs of life in the place, i moved in for the tasking.

Running under his porch and across his backyard, i went for the shed tucked in the end corner of the piece of land. Opening it, i ducked inside and shut the door behind me. From there i cased the room for possible hiding spots and chose a tarp laying across a couple of chairs. I took a few pictures and then folded the tarp down around the wrapped parcel, leaving it sandwiched within the folds. Peering out of a crack in the door i made sure no one was around and then ran back to the side of his house.

From here i checked the side door, the one that leads into the basement and is always unlocked. Despite having warnings to possible burglars, i know that this entrance is usually a safe one...or it has been in the past. Slowly turning the handle and pushing the door a creak, i waited and listened. After a few moments of not hearing any movement, i cracked the door some more and found myself in the basement. Luckily, his room is in the basement level, so i padded my way across the floor to his door. It was cracked a bit and the slice of room i could see through the slit was enough to determine that the only thing lighting the room was the sun, reflecting off the snow and through a window. Nudging the door, i peered in and found him to not be at home. Excellent!

Entering the room, i took a cursory glance around to see what was the same, what was different, what he might be doing with his free time, that sort of thing. Next, i went over to his humming computer, a pretty nice looking machine, and determined that right near the mouse was a good place to put my clues. Duct taping the piece of paper with tarp shed on it to the mousepad, i took a few pictures and turned to head out. Another glance through his bedroom door before entering the basement and out, and then i found myself back out at my car. I had successfully infiltrated to leave the gift and clues behind.

Now hopefully he actually gets off his ass and goes to look for it.

I'm impressed that you actually infiltrated the house of someone you don't even see very often. Curious to hear if they find the prize.

The problem is that he might be too lazy to go look for it, even though it is right in his back yard. Also, the other problem is that i don't know if i'll hear back from him if he does find it. I guess maybe after a little while i'll consider going back to see if it is still there if i don't hear from him. Ya, i haven't seen him in years. So, i guess that's pretty weird. He lives with his parents, so am glad that they didn't seem to be home. I would've still gone in but it would've been more risky.
