I'm gonna make a statement that I like to call Dave's Law. Explaination will follow.
"When you're waiting for the public transport, the one in the opposite direction always comes first."
It sounds pretty weird, but I'm travelling a lot with the public transport, and I'm speaking from my own experience. Example:
A train goes from A, via B to C (and vice versa). You are waiting for the train at B to go to C. According to my law as defined above, the train heading to A will show up first. No matter how stupid it sounds, about 95% of the times it's true!

It also has the corollary:
"When waiting for public transport, most of the time, the one going your way has just left."
