Renew An Old Correspondence by Yoshi

March 19th, 2006 8:45 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to someone that you or your character has not heard from in a long time.

I just found my best friend from elementary school on MySpace! I haven't seen or heard from him in almost a decade, and the last I knew, he was doing really badly in high school and experimenting with drugs (nitrous). Now I find him and it seems he's becoming a "holistic healer" at an "integrated medicine" school, focusing on "full activation of internal and external energetic healing systems." I'm not sure what to say beyond, "I'm into systems theory, too..."

I kicked it off with the following. I'll post updates.

This is Yoshi! Madera Yoshi! Man, I haven't seen you in like eight or nine years. How's it going, dude? What have you been up to? How's the post-college life treating you? It's crazy how the Internet allows people to reestablish old connections like this. I figure, how many Adam _____s that live in El Cerrito can there possibly be?

Please email me at: ---------@gmail.com (I just set up this fake myspace account so I could contact you; I don't plan on coming back)

We can catch up on what we've both been doing for the last decade.

Best,

Yoshi

Nice, got a response:

Wazup Yosh! It has been about 10 years since we last talked. I've been living in several parts of the country since then, but I came back to the bay nearly 2 years ago. I'm going to school to become a licensed acupuncturist at an integrative med school. How are you? Still in Orinda?
