Donation by Other Means by Vena Nightmare

February 7th, 2008 4:06 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Get people to donate a face (in the form of a photograph or otherwise) to SFZero. We will use these resources to fuel our war machine and supply resources to those most in need.

This was ridiculously difficult for me. The conversation would go something like this:

Me: Will you donate your face?
Them:What???
Me: {laugh} I'm just kidding. Not your real face. I just need a photograph!
Them: What do you need it for?
Me: {checks cheat sheet} It's for SF0. It's going to fuel the war machine and supply for those most in need!

Them: SF0?
Me: It's this online organization. You do cool things like tasks and it's based in San Fransisco and stuff!
Them: ... What? That's weird, I refuse.

Them: War machine? That's awful, I'm not going to support a war!
Me: Um, well, no. Not that kind of war! Not really...
Them: Whatever.

Them: Most in need?
Me: Oh I don't know, like people who need a face!
Them: Uh-huh, not me. I don't want people with my face walking around.

And then It'd go completely downhill when I told them it was for a worthy cause but couldn't properly explain what that worthy cause was. I gave up on that line of approach and took the picture first and then ask them if I could use it, without telling them what I was using it for. I got a lot more this way and they didn't really care what I was using it for. Some did ask, and I told them but to them and everyone else it didn't matter what I was using it for and this concept was wholly irrelevant- as long as I got their good side.
