Trespassing the Future by Vena Nightmare

June 17th, 2008 3:42 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Go to a place you will not be able to go to in 10 years; for instance, a place under development that will never be the same again.

Theres a house across the street that is being developed. Perfect. Unfortunately, when this finally occurred to me, they had already put locks on the doors. So under the house it was. This is someplace I'd usually be terrified to go, so even if the house was like that even ten years in the future, I would not go under there again. I take a shortcut to Carson's house. Her mom has no idea where she is. Says "I turned around just now to answer the door, and everyone is gone!" I take the long way home in hopes of meeting by chance the wayward Carson. I take a super long route, a route that will take me past my friend Rebecca's house (Maybe I could use her?). But the fates have a different plan for me and Carson appears on her bike.

We travel back to my house and survey the development. Immediately Carson feels the need to tell me "I been under houses a million times. All the time. Zillions of houses." "Great," I tell her "Good for you." I hand her my phone and hesitantly attempt to climb a small wall so I can stand inside a small enclosure. Not really putting any effort into it, I fail. I instead go under the house and emerge again in the enclosure. Carson follows too. We hear sounds in the house behind us and bolt away, to stand on the other side of the street and peer across into the shadowed windows. I see someone moving inside and I realize that all of the workers hadn't left like I originally thought.

The next day it takes us so long to get going that by the time we leave my house all, all, of the workers are gone. With nothing in our way we scour the darkness of the abyss for something interesting. There isn't much but some plants and animal prints. It's muddy down there and, tired of the weird bent posture, I get my jeans dirty by going on my knees. Poking out of a rectangular hole on another side of the house I was lucky enough to glimpse my own cat, Blacky. My kitty took off when I called her name, though I'd have liked to pet her. My little honey has leukemia, and now she's having some problems with her skin. My mother is trying to change it with her diet. She's old, 13 now I think, and it worries me that she's so skinny. My poor darling manages to throw up most of what she eats...

Update, much much much later:
I've finally got all of the pictures that were on Carson's camera. Unfortunately, her dumb brother deleted most of what we had. But take my word for it, there were plants and animal prints! Abouyt my cat, I havn't seen her in a couple of days. I hope shes alright.
