Map Your Life by Zen of Ben

August 7th, 2008 4:28 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create a map of your life, in any medium.

Imagine if you will, four dimensional space. A space not unlike the one we seem to live in, only this space is a mental space. A space comprised of thoughts and concepts. I giant Venn diagram of ideas, overlapping and interrelated.

Imagine as time ticks along in its inexorable way, a loop of consciousness that is our own, drifting through this 4-space. Encompassing ideas and experiences, tracing out a long lingering tube of memory.

What resides within that tube is all that we know, all that we have felt and all the memories that we call our own. But it has a density of its own, a certain opaqueness that can tint the memories it contains. The further back down this tube we look, the deeper into our memory we peer, the more cloudy our vision becomes. Perhaps we can "re-memorize" a memory, leaving an echo much closer to Time Now, but it is just an echo and not the original memory.

I like to imagine this multidimensional graph to be the map of my life, as the shape I described itself describes all the experiences and feelings I have ever had, and reminds me that only at Time Now do we have a truly clear vision of what we experience.
