Journey to the End of the Night: Five Years Running in SF by Alexander

June 22nd, 2011 12:07 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: The city spreads out before you. Rushing from point to point, lit by the slow strobe of fluorescent buses and dark streets. Stumbling into situations for a stranger's signature. Fleeing unknown pursuers, breathing hard, admiring the landscape and the multitude of worlds hidden in it.

For one night, drop your relations, your work and leisure activities, and all your usual motives for movement and action, and let yourself be drawn by the attractions of the chase and the encounters you find there.

A thrilling fifth-anniversary pursuit through San Francisco. If you participated in this Journey in any way (as a player, chaser, or volunteer), please tell us about your experience.

I was drawn into the game on short notice, but with great Enthusiasm. AT first I fancied myself a runner, fleeing the chaser horde across the city. Then I was drawn deeper, and much was revealed to my eyes. I became a volunteer, helping twist the experience for others. At the end of the night, at bernal hill, I claimed my pin, affixed it upon my hat, and strode down the hill exultant. Then waited some time for a bus, odd things that they are.

All said and done, I have a cool souvenir from way point 2b, and good memories all around.
