Feeling a bit depressed today so I thought that a bit of art therapy would do me good. I decided to do a one hour drawing. An hour drawing is not a big deal for me, but I am usually drawing something specific, such as a model, or an illustration. At first I was going to draw anything that came into my head, but this wasn't working very well. Then I remembered a project that I had thought about doing a while ago. I would draw to a selection of music that I am particularly obsessed with and let the music speak through my pen. I gathered a number of coloured pencils, selected a playlist that lasted an hour, put my head phones on and ignored my cat. The last ten minutes seemed to drag a bit because my arm was getting a bit sore, but the final two songs soon made me forget the time. Some of the pencils were water based, so I used the last song to wet some of the marks. By the time I had resurrected my easel, found the paper I wanted, made the playlist and sharpened all my pencils it was about 11:15pm.
Billie Jean was the most fun to let loose to. The Sarah Brightman song contained the most organic and varied spacial movements. God is God by Juno Reactor initiated the two pencil move. It was a good job that I was using yellow, because the song would have over powered the paper. The paper was so saturated by colour by the last five songs that it became hard to see my draw-dancing, and yes I believe that I looked completely ridiculous rocking out and drawing. The rock and electro-pop selections of the playlist didn't have much movement around the page, and tended to have me focus more on the bass lines.
David Bowie rocks as always!

Drawing to music is one of my favorite things to do. I love how you workeds it into a completion for the task!
I was rather tired when I did the write up. Please forgive the writing, but I don't want to redo it too much.
