1225 Upton Ave in the Presidio of San Francisco is an abandoned military building, yet to be repurposed by the GGNRA. Although it appears to have been untouched since the army left in the mid-90s, the back door to the building is unlocked (or was, the last time I happened to walk past it).

If you enter this building, you will find a small locker room and a mass of filing cabinets, some of them opened and overturned. The papers on the floor include a series of increasingly frantic memos that document the now-defunct Letterman Hospital's realization that their autoclave had been malfunctioning and registering inaccurate temperatures. As a result, the hospital had been performing medical procedures with instruments that weren't necessarily sterile.

After 5 minutes of rooting around in these memos, I started to wonder about hantavirus and the amount of ancient rodent shit in the building - so I ran away.
