Notes on the Vietnam war, taken 4/17:
-coup to overthrow Diem backed by Us (Diem=not very popular)
-Aug 1964- Lydon Johson told public that N. Vietnamese boats attacked 2 US destroyers in Gulf of Tonkin
-recently: reports confirmed that second attack didn't happen, during first attack US ships in N. Vietnamese waters
US difficulties in Vietnam: unfamiliar terrain, tunnels, guerilla warfare, S. Vietnamese gov they were supporting was unpopular, Vietcong helped by N. Vietnam, China, Cambodia.
. . . . . . . i'm sure nobody is really that interested that they want to see all three or so pages . . . .
