Significant Gesture Creation And Use by Laura

February 9th, 2007 4:56 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Create and document a significant gesture. Use the gesture in your everyday life. If you wish, you may design a gesture that can be used to indicate your involvement in SFZero to other players or San Franciscans.

I was pondering this task into the wee hours of the night and decided that pointing vaguely upwards to random objects (such as a monkey/sloth hand puppets and fake dead parrots) is truly significant.

- smaller

sloth/monkey hand puppet

notice the stern look and strong hand.

notice the vagueness.

What is the significance of this gesture?

The significance of this gesture is to acknowledge the absence of meaning in the pointing gesture. The vagueness of the pointing and the firmness of the hand characterize all that is wrong with the commonly used gesture.
