The Permanent Collection by Belacqua

INSTRUCTIONS: Surreptitiously place a book of your creation into a public library, such that it will likely be mistaken for part of its collection.

This was one of the hardest tasks I've had to do since it involves something very dear to my heart.

But let's start with the setting. On a long walk one day I discovered this little treasure. On the side of the road stood what looks like a mix between a mailbox and birdhouse. It is recessed just slightly from the road and is hardly visible by car. Since I was walking though I ran right into it. There I discovered what was labelled by a small sign calling it the "little free library." It housed a good number of books. Being that there were only a few houses in the area I must assume that all that is collected in there has been left mostly by others just like me. It's beautiful in that one can be totally anonymous when promoting the books that one loves. Which brings me to my point.

I have been working on a short story called Eudaemoniapathic that deals with certain issues that I have. It was a creative and cathartic way to express myself honestly. This is far from finished though which makes it that much more dear to me. But for this task I owned up. I placed a copy of my unfinished manuscript in the little free library. It's liberating too though. I too can anonymously spread my message to others. All it takes is a curious passerby to come along and I will be heard. I wont know it. I wont know what they think.

I wont know anything about it.
