A Real Life Secret Egg by Beta Orionis

REAL LIFE SECRET COMBINATION ATTACK!
I am very fond of eggs. I'm also quite fond of pennies.
Some time ago, these two curious objects played upon my sentiments, called to me from their respective tasks, and commanded that I unite them.
I could not disobey.
Thus, the real life secret one cent egg vessel was born into being.
First I gathered the basic elements.
One Lincoln:

One Hallowed** Egg (**so claims the egg itself):
In photographing the egg, I also came to appreciate the imperfections and variations in shell thickness. It produced a pretty spackling of translucence. I find it suprising that even with the inconsistency the egg is incredibly structurally stable. (Try crushing a non-damaged egg by wrapping your hand around it widthwise!)
It's even prettier with a UV light in the dark.

Because Mr. Lincoln appeared as a rendition of himself after his demise, I chose to exploit his most prominent feature and provide easier access to the egg contents. I found some wire and fashioned a penny-pull adorned with a cute emblem designed to distract the recipient from the true evil purposes of the deadly eggpenny duo.
wire:
I whipped together a tissue paper covering for the egg hole, slipped the pull through the cross, and attached the penny to the heartless end (it has no further attachment to the penny.)
I then assembled the egg by glue painting the tissue over the opening.
Because I planned* to send this via the U.S. Postal service, I decided to add some protection.
The double egg case was placed inside a small, labeled plastic box.

And that box was placed into the final shipping container and secured with superbly engineered scrunched paper masses.
* I did plan to snail mail this from California, but every time I tried to go to the post office, something interfered. So I decided to employ a reliable postal delivery girl to place it in Dr. Subtle's mailbox upon her return to Pittsburgh.
She was a tad bit too cheery though...

(information smudged per request of recipient)
She was, however, reliable and located the correct mail box...

And slipped the package inside. (actually, wedged. Fatefully enough, it was a perfect fit! Quite snug!)

All that remains now is for the good Doctor to check his mail.... and the eggpenny to act out its diabolical plan!!
