Culinary Adventure by Britt ++

INSTRUCTIONS: Combine two seemingly different food items to create a new meal/snack. These items should elicit an initial response somewhere along the lines of "yuck" or "gross", but should ultimately be delicious.

Consume the newly created culinary experiment and report your opinion.

For extra points, get someone who is not playing SFZero to try your new item.

The dish that I prepared for this task was inspired by two American cultural icons. It was 1 part Elvis Presley and 2 parts Homer Simpson.

One of Elvis's favorite foods was the Fried Peanut Butter and Nanner sandwich.

Homer Simpson made two significant culinary inventions, Hot Fudge and Bacon and his Patented Space Age Moon Waffles. Hot fudge and Bacon is self-explanatory, but the Moon Waffles are a little more complicated. You take

* Waffle Batter
* 1lb. of Caramels
* Liquid Smoke

Throw all of the ingredients haphazard into a waffle iron. When cooked serve with an entire stick of rich creamery butter.

With a little bit of artistic license I synthesized these three dishes into the Chocotastic Fried Peanut Butter and Bacon Moon Waffle Sandwich

The ingredients for the sandwich are:

* Toaster Waffles
Its probably better to make your own waffles. This also lets you mixin the caramels and liquid smoke in the proper Simpson way.

* Bananas
* Bacon
I used a thick smoked bacon, but I think the recipe might be improved by using a thinner saltier bacon that would crisp better.

* Nutella
In sprit the merging of peanut butter and chocolate.

* Caramel
Baking the traditional square caramel candies into the waffles is perferred, but if you have to use toaster waffles caramel sundae topping is easier to spread.

* Butter (Optional)
* Liquid Smoke

All proportions are flexible you should experiment until you find a mixture that suits your taste.

Instructions:
1) Fry the bacon to taste. I recommend cooking until the bacon is salty and crispy. Chewy bacon gets overwhelmed by the other flavors.
2) In a bowl, mash up a sliced banana with a fork.
3) Fold a few drops of liquid smoke into the banana mush. Be careful, a little goes a long way.
4) Very lighty toast the waffles. Alternatively, if you don't have a toaster you can microwave them until they thaw.
5) Spread Nutella on one waffle and banana on another. If you are using toaster waffles spread the caramel on the banana side.
6) Put the bacon in the middle and assemble the sandwich.
7) Fry the sandwich in a pan with butter until golden brown. Also, you can use the grease from the bacon.
8) Take a preventative shot of Pepto Bismol.
9) Enjoy!

Amazing!

I was afraid of this sandwich. It seemed good in theory, but would it taste good? Also, I wasn't sure if my heart and colon could handle the load. But my fears were allayed by the first bite. It was great! Like a chocolate banana s'more...with bacon! I was worried about the liquid smoke but it really gives it a nice kick and makes it taste like it was roasted over a fire. Next time I think I will top it with whipped cream so that it represents all of the neglected food groups: the fried group, the congealed group, the whipped group and the chocotastic!

I especially love the photo in which you are flanked by the roll of paper towels and the Pepto Bismol before the first bite.

Way to do this task *the right way*. I apologize to other players who've completed this task, but until now I've not really felt dubious about the outcome of their food. It's obvious what we needed was a dose of homer simpson.

Definitely inspired, but I wasn't grossed out at any point along the way except for the 'preventative shot of Pepto-Bismol," which sounds optional anyway. Votes, though, because it sounds DELICIOUS! (and like it would trigger a heart attack... mmmm, heart disease...)
