Surpassing Open Interface by Britt ++

INSTRUCTIONS: Being an SF0 designer is hard work, though thanks to the labors of others gratification is awarded when a task hits a completed status. Give the designers a chance to take longer lunch breaks by improving the interface site for them. After coming up with a good idea, implement it off site as a preview, then create a detailed HOWTO with attached resources that were created to generate the preview, such as code and media. Know how to draw, but don't know how to code or write up a EULA? Team up with others to give the SF0 designers more PTO.

I've written a greasemonkey script to make it easier to find collaborators for tasks. There is a more detailed description on my site at http://www.illtemper.org/sf0-collaborator-finder/.

How to use the collaborator finder

1. Install Greasemonkey
2. Install the sf0 Greasemonkey Script (just click the link and Greasemonkey should ask you if you want to install)
3. Browse sf0 tasks
4. Players looking for collaborators will be listed in the box beneath your player info. The names link to their player pages os that you can send them a message.

Send me a message if there are any bugs.

P.S. I'd like to add a calendar-like feature so that it would be easy to schedule collaborations, but that might be a little while in coming.

So I might as well ask here - what do people think of this? We'd been discussing two ways of doing something similar:

1. Basically steal/borrow/usurp this, but with a different UI since we wouldn't have to javascript the button into being. It's a good way to find collaborators, and it'd also be interesting to see what tasks got the most "want to collaborate" traffic.

2. A pseudo message board - the last 5-20 posts would show up in the rss feed, or your "updates" page, or somewhere along those lines. This would be more for when people have something in mind to do very soon - i.e. you could see if anyone wanted to meet for a bite in the rooftop garden.

Eh? Thoughts?

I think the message board is a great idea. Also, it would be nice to see something on your profile page , or maybe in the playernav, showing all matches for tasks that you are looking for collaborators on. Otherwise you have to go back to the task page and see if anyone else is on the list. [A match feed would amazingly cool.]

The other thing I was thinking about was scheduling. Any easy way to find collaborators if you want to do a task on Sat. afternoon or something. Google calendar looks like it has a pretty decent API. So it might be easy to automatically publish events to an sf0 calendar, which would save having to write code to manage timing and reminders and such.

btw, right now there are 7 players using the greasemonkey version.
