Lux Aeterna by The Villain

August 20th, 2007 7:08 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Install a strange and wonderful light source in a public place.

I think it's performing little tasks like this that make me the happiest:

- Made 11 little stars for Redmoon Theater, but we only needed 10.

- Put the last little star in my bag and rode around the city waiting for a good opportunity to present itself.

- Found a branch that needed some attention, hanging low over a wooden bridge in Humboldt Park.

Glow little LED, glow!

lack of light

I did a task earlier this week and needed to take a shot with flash, but it was pitch black and astronomers that were at the area looked like they were intent on keeping it that way. I have a lot of bad dark photos. And yes, Cameras need better flash units.

yay!

I really like the simplicity of this. Simple things are wonderful. Like the little candle powered chime carousel in your room. I miss that.

This one?

The candles burnt out a few nights ago. I watched in dismay as first one candle went out, then another, slowly slowing down as the lights flickered out. And when it was down to the last candle it no longer had enough heat to spin the propeller and it stopped making sound and stiffened up.

*sniff*

There it is.

It's a wonder it was able to spin at all, considering how thick the air in your room was. Little lights make me happy. I think I'll light my lantern and hang it outside for the people who walk up and down my path...

Beautiful ending

I really like the drawing at the end--it seems to capture a nice mood. Shine, little star, and provide a beacon for the darkened path...

Leaving a star on a tree...poetic!

oh what fond memories

We had that EXACT wind ornament. Every xmas it was part of the ritual to pull it out and set it up. It's so delicate. My mom moved back to England 15 years ago and I think it got sold at some haight ashbury garage sale. funny, i didn't miss it until i reminded of it. i love being awash in a long forgotton memory.

Excellent drawing. It would have been a shame if your camera phone meant that you were unable to do the completion justice, but the drawing makes up for it entirely.

Never rely on a camera to do a pen's job.

(disregard that I used a digital pen...)

ahhh, very nice, I like it. yes, the poetry of a star on a tree is wonderful. and vixen, travelbug, and villian, I know they still make those, and you can get replacement candles for them, though I don't know where, my mom was excited that she found them in a catalog somewhere as she remembered them from her childhood, so its becomeing a christmas tradition here too.
