Ah, good old MN0 Puzzle Quest. Longer and harder than ever this time, and that's not just what she said. Team Those Meddling Kids got off to a good start, breezing through the early puzzles and taking a bit of a lead in time over the competition.
We were doing well by the time that we had completed all the puzzles that required us to be out and walking about, and the last few puzzles were back at headquarters- but those were some hard puzzles. We took our first hint of the day working out the final puzzle before the last room, and eventually cracked it, but it didn't do us any good.
Going into the final room, we had one minute to make a decision about which box we wanted to choose- certain boxes would contain items of varying point values, and some wouldn't contain anything at all. This was complicated by the fact that the boxes needed to be tested using items we had acquired during the hunt (flashlight, marble, magnet, and so-forth) to figure out what they held. We got a box to start making music, which seemed to match up with the hint we got from the final puzzle, but because of the way we had worked out the final location of the boxes (in what was essentially a very large logic puzzle) we didn't go with it, and got no points in the final room.
Despite this, we scored reasonably well by completing all of the puzzles with only a single hint. Still, it was disappointing to have six+ hours of puzzling come down to a one-minute madhouse. If there was one complaint about the game this time around, that would have to be it. All in all though, it was a blast.
