Food Art Installation by your face

June 24th, 2006 11:16 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Install food-art.

I work in a restaurant that serves lamb chops. I had requested that the gentlemen in the kitchen save for me what they call the "fat caps" from the lamb chops when they are being prepared. My original intention was to photograph the differences in these seemingly identical pieces of fat. What happened ultimately was something that I never intended. I brought the "fat caps" home and placed them in my circa 1955 refridgerator that I keep in the garage. When the time came to photograph these meatless bits I created a frame that would serve as the back drop for this particular project. I took the photographs, which are available below and placed the fat back into a bag and placed the bag back into the freezer. My intention was to refridgerate them until they were to be disposed. I got busy and day's past, no problem though the fat was in a bag in a refridgerator, all was fine. A friend came to visit from a city far away and I was excited to show him my new aquisition, the circa 1955 refridgerator. We went to the garage and look at the beautful exterior of this fantastic machine. I opened the door and much to my surprise the light was off. Hmmmm, I thought, that's funny I wonder why the light is out. No sooner had I imagined the problem did we both catch "wind" of the terrible tragedy that had taken place. I quickly touched the bag to check for a cool temperature hoping against hope that the fridge had only been off for a moment, but I found no chill. I assume the fuse had been blown for at least a week and the smell confirmed a certain number of days at least. I cannot post smells via the internet, nor would I like to, but the photographs of the original project are delightful no less.
