The Mystery Photo by Cior O'Neil

May 31st, 2006 8:43 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Take a photo of one person.

Pick a second person who is unlikely to know or meet the first person and insert the photo into a book or similar possession of theirs where it is unlikely to be discovered for months or years and where its presence will be completely unaccountable.

Extra points for factors that make the mystery more compelling or perplexing.

My parents took a series of cute pigtailed photos of me when I was five or six years old. Yesterday, I slipped one of these photos into the pages of Nabakov's Lolita at the Crescent Hill Public Library.

I suspect that a relatively normal person will borrow this book, discover the photo and puzzle over it in reference to the book's subject matter.

Better yet, someone will check the book out and a third party will discover the photo.

There's an element of cruelty to it that makes it quite fun
