Information Insertion by Complex Simplicity

April 16th, 2009 9:14 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Insert information in a place that has an absence of information.

I live in what may be considered a rather sketchy neighborhood. On the road which my apartment is placed, if you turn left u r walking towards the safer portion of the neighborhood and an el stop. If you turn right you are walking toward another el stop but u will not be walking if you are walking at night, you will find urself running for the el being chased by what some may call hooligans, thrilling nonetheless not recommended for the fleat of heart and lungs. So being considerate i placed in bright neone chalk upon the walkway a large sign to warn all passerbys to walk left to the el and not right. Super hero duty to save lives completed, well until rains.

Okay, three praxis with no pics and just one lousy paragraph each, thats getting to much like cheating. Flags will start going up soon. Try harder.

Seeing as there are only two known rules there is no cheating, but there are flags and no rules on how we are meant to distribute them. So be a Rubin if you like.

@ The OP

Did you mark the territory for this task? I totally want to check out your chalk.

These aren't really "rules" by any definition, more like piratey-type Bill Nighy sort of "guidelines", but I definitely have some thoughts on flagging.

For one thing, check out the player info here.

This guy is not coming back. I hate that. It makes me sad. I think about how close I came to never finding out about this place, and the idea of *seeing it* and *missing the point*? This is sad. Very sad only. I have tried lots of approaches to prevent this, but at a certain point we are fighting ignorance and apathy. What's the difference? I don't know and I don't care.

There is more to our community than creativity and friendship. We have standards. Really high ones. Like, we do not impress easily. To be fair, we empathize and appreciate the experience of doing more than most dismissive and jaded folks, so knitting a pair of gloves gets a lot more love here than in most venues, but we tend not to be false either. Part of what draws people into this community is seeing what we accomplish. People have short attention spans, and if they don't see the awesome, they move on to the next big thing. Every uninspiring task, unimaginative writeup, and unflagged dyspraxis is wasted digital real estate. There aren't consequences, the points seem pointless, and it doesn't look like things matter. So I am all for reeling in the noobs, but we need a collective backbone on this one. Rubin made us better. Rubin made us the SF0 we are today. Without Rubin, we would be that much closer to myspace, farmville, gamerscore, and etsy combined.

If I may quote the one player to have a legitimate Big-Red-X'ing revoked by the Daemon himself, "I have a gender, and I'm good at it." Well, SF0 has a gender (flavor? laser?), and we're good at it! And that is something to be proud of. (Although I've finished my point, the preceding sentence begins with a conjunction and ends with a preposition, and I wanted to point out that I am trying to be folksy and impassioned, not giggling to myself about how trolling is a art.)
