I took a few simple precautions before doing this task. First, I knew I had to remain inconspicuous. Rather than fumbling around with a stack of post-it notes, I super glued a stack to the back cover of my notebook, so when it came time to comment on a product, it would merely look like I was writing in my notebook. Then with one quick motion, rip and post.
As for the photographs, I avoided using flash as to not draw attention to our mischievous deeds, which is the reason why the pictures are a tiny bit dark. Also, it would have proved difficult for just me to be writing and taking the pictures and still be able to do it fast and unnoticed. My lovely girlfriend Jamie accompanied me, and took most of the pictures you see. That way, it was a very quick process. Write, post, snap, leave.
The places we hit:
Giant Eagle
Pros:
-Very big store
-Many products
-Little chance of getting caught
Cons:
-Big store means posts were far in between, thus less of a chance of catching a customer reaction.
Sheetz
Pros:
-Small store means more of a chance of customer reaction.
-Easy to quickly cover with posts.
Cons:
-Higher chance of getting caught
-Lack of product variety.
It's obvious that Giant Eagle was a bit more ideal, but we hit both places anyway. Giant Eagle was a piece of cake, and a great success! Once we got into Sheetz, we put maybe three notes down until we were caught taking a picture, and forced to delete those pictures. However, they didn't notice the notes, and we caught one customer chuckling at one of them after the fact, so it wasn't a total lack of success.
The captions of each picture will be what is said on the note. Enjoy!
Note: The notes get wittier as they go on, I believe. I had to warm up.. -_-
UPDATE, 4/28: I was hanging out in the basement of one of the dorm buildings here, and one of my friends mentions a post-it note on one of the products at Sheetz. She saw it roughly two hours ago; roughly 8 hours after completing this task. The fact that it has yet to be taken down in a store that is constantly being monitored and restocked makes me very happy. Even better that someone I know saw it, and brought it up. I'll be sleeping well tonight!
UPDATE, 4/29: I've gotten confirmation that at the very least, the "WTF" comment is still posted. Again, my friend spotted this before he even knew that I was responsible. I'm surprised that not all of them have been taken down by now.

Will not give you awesome radioactive spider powers... DAMN!
Burn Unit: She's also taken an interest in SF0, and I told her to join before I posted this so she could get collaboration credit, but she chose not to simply because she was too busy. Maybe someday..
As for whether or not anyone reacted to the notes, the only truly conclusive reaction was the one I mentioned at Sheetz. At Giant Eagle, it's such a big store that the notes were so far in between, chances were that we wouldn't have caught any of the reactions.
However, an old lady noticed we were up to something and laughed, and we got some strange looks from a few people, if that counts.

will not give radioactive powers. (That is close to my heart as once when I was little I bought the scrubb'n bubbles cleaner, thinking little bubbles would really come out and clean my tub for me. I didn't have a TV so advertising was very compelling when I saw it! Also, I was just kind of a hopeful kid.)
i really love it when a type of food is advertised by an animal serving up its brethren. you know, chef pigs proudly displaying a giant pork chop on a menu or something. the teddy grahams thing is particularly weird because it's a representation of an animal serving/eating its own representation-as-cracker/cookie, which is pretty strange. awesome job!
The "WTF" made me laugh aloud.
i too thoroughly, heartily, astoundedly, smilingly approve.
"more horse"? in the jello.
more like "more horse, dog, pig bones, cat hair, etc."
This task must have been a lot of fun to do and I certainly had a lot of fun seeing the results! Well done!
So well done that I fear I will not even attempt this task...
Thanks for the votes, everyone! I'm overjoyed that this was so well received.
YellowBear: My completion turned out far from perfect. Find something mine didn't have and implement it, or better yet, make it completely your own! Everyone has something unique to bring to the creative smorgasbord that is SF0. If you have the will, go for it!
funny, i thought I'd already voted for this... I guess I just got so caught up in savoring it's goodness I forgot to vote.
if you look Reeeeeeaaaaalllllly closely you can see a pistachio caught in your hair in the picture where you're labeling the lean cuisine... curious.... = 0
This is awesome.
But why the hell would you get forced to delete photos you took in a grocery store? I mean, really. *rolls eyes at the stupidity of the world*
and you're right it got wittier.
First thought: your girlfriend needs to play sf0 so she can get collaborator credit on this task, that's a very nice deed she did taking all those photos.
Second: did you observe whether or not anyone reacted to the notes?
Faves: "cannibal!" "gnosis is latin for knowledge, buy it!"
