INSTRUCTIONS: Write a letter to someone that you or your character has not heard from in a long time.

My best friend and I ran away from the "pumpkin patch" to be bad little teenagers. We bought cigarettes together, we hitchhiked to the city. While in the city, we were given booze from homeless men who wanted us to hang out by this really big fountain. I will never forget it. It was springtime then (literally and figuratively) and we did a lot that night before going back home in the morning. We took a cab home from the city and snuck back in and got busted right away by the grown-up figures who were there.

I moved about a year after that. I never forgot running away. When things got bad, I knew I didn't have to hurt myself or give up on life. I lerned to "run away" for a night and come back in the morning alright. For this project I sent a letter to the one I ran away with. I sent her a letter and it turns out her dad "Bob Blue has died. He is an important children's teacher and an excellent writer. You can read some of his work and learn more at http://bobblue.org Bob wrote a lot and my friend's name isn't Blue anymore (she married). Times sure change.
