Saucy Tales by Draelight

Limdonia. A solitary world of citric acid. Thousands of poor limes were harvested there to make their tangy juices available to the fleshy masses. A lone bottle bounced among his peers in the back of a delivery truck. Sure, he was a little sour, but he deserved a good home. Months passed as he sat on back of the grocery store shelf, wondering when he would be a part of his first margarita. A hand stretched out and grabbed him, plunking him into a basket. He would finally be free!
At first he got his share of attention among the other condiments on the refrigerator door, added to drinks and dishes alike. More time passed between uses. He feebly attempted to peer at his expiration date, knowing it was useless. No condiment knew when they would come to pass. It had been a year since he had last been plucked from the pack. He MUST have been past his date, but it was too late now.

Today, I found a bottle of lime juice 2 years past expiration date in my fridge (April 2008). I don't recall the last time its been used, or what it was even used for. But I don't have the heart to throw it and its new-found friend away. True love?
