I've been seeking edible mushrooms for quite some time. My obsession with fungus has paid off -- richly -- in my finding Ganoderma curtisii, closely related (possibly identical to) the world-renowned medicinal mushroom Ganoderma lucida, aka reishi, aka lingzhi...

Not having a good source of rice-wine brandy in which to soak them (doing them traditional, elder Chinese gentleman justice), I made a water infusion. Mushrooms, meet pot of water. Simmer together for a while.

Anyone? Anyone? We'd have to collaborate with a sixth-former, er, leveller, but these look like fun to me. Anyone else?

I haven't done so much with polyphasic sleep (or as Guinea Pig B, aka Buckminster Fuller, called it "dymaxion sleep") because I was slightly afeared of becoming even more resemblant of Jordan from the movie Real Genius. "I couldn't sleep, so I knitted you a sweater." "I was refinishing my floors."
What do people *do* with all that extra time?
It's said, however, that my particular brand of what ails me is improved by proper, ordered, frequent rest and pacing ... so this sort of scheme is somewhat attractive.

I am entirely *not* a desert creature, but I did greatly enjoy Playa del Fuego this year and will be making my way back to it, and to other regional events that aren't out in a bloody great salt flat, at least for the most part. I would eventually like to make it out to Black Rock City. I think. Maybe. I'd need to take notes from the Fremen and make a stillsuit or something, though.
