This work, or lack of work, does not reflect negatively on any work done by any other player. This work, or lack there of, simply reiterates the fact that work has been done. Appropriation is a sensitive issue in the commercial art world and should be an issue in the make-believe "task" world. Tasks like "explore greatness in art" ans "sell a forgery on ebay" are perfect examples of appropriation, but we must allow and respect them because they are ways to "copy" great works of art? The idea that some works are okay to copy and others are not is something that I am affraid I will never understand. This whoile site is a exercise in creatvity. This project is a means to get people out of their seats and into their communities. It allows people an outlet in a world where they might not find one otherwise. I think that this much discussion has been raised in response to something as ridiculous as appropriating some other players task is outrageous, but none-the-less effective in influencing other players. How can the use of curse words be an effective means to affect positive change? How does using words like trash and annoying benefit anyone? Why not discuss the positive side of all of this? Why not explore the possibilities that surround the negative impact that our ego's might have on the people around us. While we cannot see each other or meet each other, we all signed up for this "game" on our own accord, hence our own responsibility lies in our interactions with others, be they players or not. I personally believe that this question of appropriation is a pertinent one since there seems to be an incredible force pushing the idea that there is no new art.
