Fun Hats by f_unk, Water Dragon, Tom Barringer, Clare Sci-Fi, Bas Moniker

For this task we decided to have a "Mad Hatter" night and all make hats and go out in them. So we met at Water Dragon's apartment in the early evening and started construction. Water Dragon purchased several pieces of poster board (or karton in Dutch) in several colors and some tape earlier in the day in order to facilitate construction.

Water Dragon started by mocking up a hat using newspaper in order to prove the soundness of the method of attaching the brim to the tube portion of the hat he intended to make as well as to verify that it was possible to make a hat, brim and top out of two sheets of poster board. He used an Italian newspaper left by a very special lady from an earlier visit for this. *grin*
Florian and Clare arrived first and started work on their hats. Clare succeeded in making a dunce cap which made her look very smart.

While Florian started in on the brim for his hat.

Tom Burger arrived next and began working on weaving a portion of his hat out of strips of paper. He is very proud to have weaved a circular section for his hat without using any tape to hold it together.

Finally, Tom Barringer and Bas Moniker arrived and started on their hats. They brought most of the materials for their own hats which were quite unique.

Clare finished her hat first which was good since she had to work for awhile. The plan was for her to meet up with us later.

Soon all the hats were finished and it was time to go out.

So we headed to the tram stop and then up to Leidse Plein.

We also did Photo Competition Number 1 on this night and Public Restroom Photography. Water Dragon also did Missives from Strangers From Friends and Wearable Art. You can see more photos from the night in our pool on flickr!
