I did this task, and then realized it's the most boring task in the world to write up, and will barely be entertaining enough to garner any votes. So I'm going to use this opportunity to muse on my progress with my crazy EquivalenZ mission (to complete every single pure-EquivalenZ task by the end of the era).
Well, I have a week left and I've barely scratched the surface, so you might think that I will fail. The truth is, I feel strongly that I must not sacrifice quality of tasking for the sake of the mission, even if it means that the mission will fail. Don't get me wrong, I made plans to complete them all, and there are still a few corkers in the pipeline. So even though I am bracing myself for failure, I will not consider it a defeat.

Dodging:
Last weekend, my wife went to an X-Factor party, at which she joined some friends to get drunk and watch the X-Factor finals. (If you don't know it, X-Factor is similar to American Idol.)
X-Factor does not interest me one bit, but I pick up odd things from when my wife is watching it, so I knew who the finalists were: Rhydian, Leon and ??? (forgot!). I decided to dodge finding out who had won X-Factor for as long as possible.
This was a lot harder than it sounded. After all, the X-Factor winner is almost certainly going to be Christmas #1. For a start, I had to persuade my wife to hold in her excitement when she returned from the party, and try and direct the conversation elsewhere. I also could not be in the room when she was talking to anyone on the phone, just in case.
On my way to work on Monday, I averted my eyes from the free-papers scattered about the place. I couldn't think of any way to protect myself from overhearing if any of my workmates started to discuss it, but fortunately it didn't come up.
Back home, I avoided turning on the radio and put on CDs instead. After that, I basically forgot about it, and for two more days I got away with it.
But on Thursday morning I failed. Without thinking about it, I picked up a free-paper on my way to Great Yarmouth for the Watermob and, sure enough, there was an article about viewers complaining that Rhydian should have won instead of Leon. Four days and a night - I honestly thought I could last longer than that, but oh well...
Prior pure-EquivalenZ tasks:
- Nintend0
- Correspond with a spammer
- Cellular Breakdown
- SFZero Text Updates
- Objectify a Subject
- Attachment Theory
- Bathe Electonics

Here's the scrap of paper I've been carrying around to track progress with my EquivalenZ tasking mission.

Heh, I was wondering what piece of news you were dodging, you needn't have worried about us giving it away, none of us would have known who won!

What a great choice of avoidance!
Cheers to you! Your effort, creativity and ambition make you a success whether you complete all the tasks or not!
