Trespassing the Future by Goddess of Doom and Thievery

December 28th, 2008 1:36 PM / Location: 45.852836,-122.8292

INSTRUCTIONS: Go to a place you will not be able to go to in 10 years; for instance, a place under development that will never be the same again.

So, I found this old train in town. There used to be a trailer park all around it. But they decided that they're going to build something they think is better there. There's still one ruined trailer house there, and then there's this old train piece. They're going to have to get rid of the train pretty soon so they can build. It's sad that it will be gone, because it's really cool.

Old train

This is the old train. It was really cool and I though it was a rather beautiful old train piece. And me, of course.

Here is that train again. It's just a different angle. Yes, that sign says no trespassing.

Good. Now, did anything happen during your trespass? Did you encounter anything or any stories we should hear? If you did, and you'd like to share them, do so, please! What are the details of your impressions of doing the deed, i.e., why is it sad?

Plus, it'd be awesome for them to go into the proof itself (not just a comment reply to little old me).

Well, the doors were locked. So I couldn't get into it. However, there was a bunch of papers and paper cups scattered around the inside of it. I would like to go back and see if I can get inside somehow.

It's sad because the train is beautiful. It's one of the more interesting pieces of my town. It's a sad proof that the town is changing for the worse. We're getting more chain stores and less local cool spots. The few spots left are being destroyed so that corporate America can spread it's evil disease. They are going to take something unique, and turn it into something bland, and common. That's why it makes me sad.
