Eating Beyond Sight by Sardonicus Tweed
November 30th, 2009 5:37 PMA Task Commemorating Sard's Brilliant and Glorious Return to SF0! Huzzah!
It's been a while, because I've had to get back to school, so I haven't had much time for anything else. I'm really glad to be back and doing this kind of thing again.
I wanted to go a bit beyond the what the task said, so I not only ate a meal in total darkness, (played here by my being blindfolded; total darkness is hard to come by for me,) I made it, dished it up, and cleaned up after it in total darkness as well.
It was an interesting experience for me. I realized just how dependent on sight I am, but with a little practice, I was able to successfully make microwave soup.
The buttons on the microwave were annoying. They barely feel any different than the bits of the microwave that don't actually do anything. Luckily, I was able to orient myself properly, using edges and other buttons as landmarks. I knew that I definitely wouldn't be able to use the timer feature, so I got a different, easier to use timer.
Eating the soup was also a bit of an adventure. There's a lot to eating that I require eyesight for, like knowing how much of it I'd eaten, where the food was, where I'd put my spoon and my cup, et cetera.
All in all, though, this was great fun. I really missed SF0 and I'm really glad to be back.
