Trespassing the Future by heather galaxy

INSTRUCTIONS: Go to a place you will not be able to go to in 10 years; for instance, a place under development that will never be the same again.

This place on 14th St. between Chapin and Belmont NW will be totally different in 10 years, probably even in the next few years. I've only lived in DC for 3 years on the border of Columbia Heights and Petworth and it's completely insane how many development projects there have been since then. I moved just as the new Giant (grocery store) moved from 14th st. to Park Rd. ... And now there's the DCUSA mall, the triangle building, all those other condos along the Columbia Heights metro (and I will slap anyone I hear in my presence calling it CoHi), not to mention all the Petworth metro stuff. I remembered when I first moved here I noticed this strip mall and thought "damn, that's not long for the world" already recognizing that the development in Columbia Heights and U st. would eventually close in on this strip mall. I wonder what it's going to be. More condos? That would kind of be shocking with the current market and all those condos going up right around there. This is one of the few properties that I know will be gone and I'll have no idea what'll be there!

Sadly my camera died at this point, but there are some nice "no loitering" signs.
