I talked to a girl I sit next to in algebra. She's very quiet and asked not to be named or photographed.
I started out by greeting her casually after the teacher dismissed us to work in our groups. She seemed kinda surprised at first. We are the top students (not because we were above average, per say, but we were really the only ones who payed any attention), but we had never really acknowledged eachother. She didn't really resist talking back, I could just kinda tell that it took her off guard. I asked her how her weekend was, and we kind of made casual small talk from that point on. I found out that she's a big fan of a game that I'm a fan of, which I wouldn't have guessed, specifically because she's such a quiet person and I didn't really pin her as the kind of person who plays games. The conversation really took off from there. We talked about what the best characters were and I taught her a little more about the meta-game since I go to tournaments for this particular game on occasion. In hindsight, we probably should have focused more on math. At the end of the period we had hardly any of the review question finished, but it was worth the nice conversation.

We were actually talking about Super Smash Brothers Melee. I've had a certain affinity for that series since the N64 era, but I've only recently started going to tournaments (recently, meaning within the last year).
What game??
Judging from the description, it sounds like LOL.
Happy that we've influenced you to make a friend!
