A Real Life Secret Egg by JK Bobbins

March 22nd, 2008 7:37 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: You'll know what to do.

We two lone protectors of the universe decided to embark on a mission, a mission that held together the balance of time and space. It was our duty to Brentwood; neigh, the world, for us to complete this task. I, Jon Robin, and my tasking partner, Mason Matthews, knew that Easter weekend was the perfect time to plant Hope and Truth in our little society, for we know that the ones who find the two, secret, legendary Eggs will be the chosen ones...

What first seemed to be a day of free hot dogs and 40,000 eggs in a football field, turned out to be so much more. It being the day before Easter, Mason wanted to go to the church sponsored annual Easter Egg Hunt at the High School. I took this as an opportunity to begin the quest, and Mason whole-heartedly agreed that today was the day. I packed up The Eggs, and headed out towards our designated meeting spot.

I arrived, and shortly thereafter, Mason could be seen longboarding towards me in the distance. Our first order of business was deciding how the messages should be delivered. It was a long and arduos process, for the description had to be written in a perfect way to get the messages across...

This is what we finally decided to write on The Eggs:

Egg 1
The Egg of Truth:

Within this egg lies man's greatest desire: The Truth; but be forewarned, The Chosen One who finds this egg must preserve it, for if it is cracked open, The Truth will be lost forever.

Egg 2
The Egg of Hope:

Congratulations! You Have found the Egg of Hope! It is now your job to prevent the contents of The Egg from destroying the world!
Good Luck!

With the messages clear, and our souls determined, we headed up towards the school...

But... What's this!?

There is no one here!!

What could be the meaning of this!?

After Mason set forth to discover what was behind this, we learned that we had been misinformed by Mason's mother: We were at the wrong school! All seemed lost!

But then, a glint of good fortune emerged...!

Mason's mom gave us a ride.

Once our hearts were again at ease, we were able to again focus on the task at hand. We were promptly delivered to the other High School and entered the grounds...

But we were too late. The Easter Egg hunt for our age group had ended by the time we arrived. Feeling defeated and overwrought, we headed for the free hot dog line...

As we looked over the grounds and began to observe our present situation, we realized that there was still hope. It was a sign from the higher powers that made us late. It was not intended for us to deliver the eggs to that football field. Also, the whole establishment wreaked of resentment and resistance. It was disgusting.

We then set forth to find the perfect locations of purity for The Eggs...

As we ventured further and further away from the wretched place, a peaceful tranquility overwhelmed us the closer we got to our destinations.

It was then we found our first destination...

A peaceful alleyway that seemed to have no signs of negative presence. And in that alleyway was a hole on the side of a building, right underneath a "No Parking at Any Time" sign. Perfect. We planted The Egg, gently breathed some words of respect, and moved on. Fate was all that was guiding The Egg of Hope at that point onward.

We wandered forward, following the directions our spirits gave to us, and soon afterward, we found the last location...

In between two bushes, at the base of wonderful window display, and next to a quaint empty lot, was a small stump. It was a beautiful occurrence, and we knew that our journey was about to come to an end. Right on top of the stump, was an indent, that The Egg of Truth slipped perfectly, and majestically, into.

We said our final words, and began the long and gallant trek home.
