MN0PQ3: Mugs and Molls by Katie Nave

My name Don "the Key" Kong of the Mario Kartel. It was a chilly day but not as cold as it had been earlier in the week. Besides, I had my trusty trenchcoat to keep me warm. We gathered to prove our worth to the boss and only the best would prevail. I came with my mind sharp and ready for action. And we got action, oh yes, we got it. It started fast and easy and we got cocky. Our gang got stuck on the third puzzle and the other gangs caught up. One even passed us by. From then on out it was a furious race of catch-up. We guessed correctly that it was more important to the boss that we figure out the answers ourselves than bribe faster answers out of his assistants but it was really tough at times. Each of us had a few moments of brilliance and it was a good balance to the gang. We left for the final stop only 10 seconds behind our rival gang and ran for the finish. To our surprise, we were the first back to the bar and the rivals didn't show for 10 minutes. Apparently they had more important things to do than impress the boss and ended up taking a detour. We celebrated our strong finish, but worried about the rival gangs as we waited for the final results. Our worries were completely unfounded as we led by a large margin. The boss was extremely pleased with gang Mario Kartel and has entrusted us with an even greater task - plan the next puzzle quest!
