Gift Package for the Department of Homeland Security by Cthulhu Kitty

October 24th, 2007 10:01 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Show your appreciation for national security forces, in their efforts to protect the territory from hazards both internal and external.

Make a gift package for members of such an organization, complete with a note describing the contents and your appreciation. Mail it to them, or just pack it suspiciously and leave it unattended in a place they will be sure to find it (i.e. the Subway or the Airport).

The other day, as I was getting lost in Honolulu, I ran across a great big government building with a huge sign saying "Department of Homeland Security." Instantly, I was reminded of this task and begin plotting its accomplishment.

The whole time I planned this out, as I shopped for meaningful gift items, and as I walked over to the building, I kept thinking " Am I really going to do this?" "Will I be subject to lots of scanning and possibly even a body cavity search?" "Could I get arrested for this?" "Will I be able to make the security guard laugh?"

Alas! none of these things happened. (ok, I'm glad the middle two things didn't happen, but if they had, it would have made my proof more interesting.)

As you can see from the video, the two inside security guards thought I was loony and would not accept the gift. They didn't even scan it. :(

The outside security guard was much nicer! He gladly accepted the gift and allowed me to take a photo of him with it. I hope he will actually enjoy it and not toss it into the nearest trash receptacle.

This task was very scary...after all my worrying, the results were actually quite anticlimatic. But, nonetheless, task accomplished!

After I made the list of contents, I notice they all started out with the letter B. 1 Bag of chocolates 1 Beanie Baby 1 Black Cat and I placed these items in a Big Bag....what else starts with B, I wonder...

I always figured this task was meant to be read, not completed. Thanks for proving me wrong.

but the video camera is quite tiny. I find that most people don't realize it is in fact a video camera. good for candid shots.
