The Taking Tree by Ross, Elenlin

March 8th, 2009 9:41 PM

INSTRUCTIONS: Hide ten objects in ten trees.

In doing this, I decided that all ten objects needed to follow a theme. I wanted them all to be connected in case someone went looking for more. I also wanted it to be something positive and uplifting, something that would make people smile. My first thought was little "You are beautiful" sighs, but I wasn't sure what would be the best way to make them. Then it donned on me that I could crochet 10 hearts. I got out my big bag of yarn scarps and started crocheting. Sizes all varied based on the amount of yarn I had. I made all the hearts in an evening, and was all ready to go when this little thing call life hit me upside the head. So my poor finishes hearts sat in my apartment for a while. Time pasted, and along came February. It occurred to me that hanging them in February would have people thinking they were for Valentine's Day. At first I thought that I'd wait till March, so that it wouldn't be for Valentine's Day, but then I thought why not share a little love then? So my boyfriend and I went out and hung them in trees around were I go to school and work on February 14. As of today, some are still up, though some have come down. From what I've seen, no one had noticed them, which is too bad, but thus is life.

Luckily Ross climbed the tree for me.

That way I didn't have to remove the cloak... Me, outside without my cloak, never.

I think that's especially nice cos you made them yourself.
