Journey to the End of the Night: Vienna 2010 by kydo

May 16th, 2010 4:32 AM

INSTRUCTIONS: Document your Experience.

Ya, same experience as sleepyhead. Thanks so much to the organizers, less thanks to the rain. In the beginning I thought it was adding to the cool-hardcoreness of the adventure, but eventually, the whipping rain and wind was just too much. The chasers, were super, scared me completely and I jumped a fence and dodged between some cars. Something about this experience of being chased by people dressed like 1970s clown-ish NY gang members, totally freaky! (in a good way) The course was a bit huge. I'm not from Vienna, just visiting for a couple days and I don't know the city at all so it was a constant struggle with a very soggy map. We were 2 people and managed not to get caught. We got to the first 3 checkpoints, the teaparty was so nice, but looking for the 4th, in the heaviest part of the rainfall did us in, we couldn't carry on anymore and that neighbourhood was pretty dismal looking, it was even hard to find a street light to read the map under. Never-the-less, it always feels wonderful to jump into a big adventure with so many other motivated people. We still have our blue ribbons! I would try it again (thought not in the rain) and I wonder, maybe it would be good to begin a bit earlier in the day, with such a large course. I think this game could be very funny in a small town. Sorry, no photos.
