Letter to a Cowboy

In Clovis, CA *my hometown, its north of Fresno and happens to be where all the white people live* there is a statue of Ken Curtis (July 2, 1916 - April 28, 1991) he was the actor that played "Festus Haggen" on the western TV show Gunsmoke.

I have basically grown up with this statue all my life, and at one time he had inspired me to maybe join the rodeo. I ended up selling Sno Cones as a young lad at our towns rodeo in part do to this stupid statue and my low grade obsession with “The West”.

For this I went to his fenced off area of glory in Clovis, CA and left my letter to him. I had my sister take a picture of me leaving the letter to him. Due to the high wind in the area I left something heavy on the paper so it wouldn’t fly away. I would have put the letter in his hand but his paint is chipping off and I didn’t want to damage him, the Clovis Police micromanage the law here so I’m sure if I damaged the poor guy “the man” would come after me in full force
