I spotted this sign in the Memphis airport. Intrigued by its dated appearance, I went over to look at it--and lo and behold, here's an airport version:
Looks like that FAA office is still at 800 Independence Avenue, too. The zip code changed one digit.
Unfortunately, by the time I noticed this sign, I didn't have enough time left before my flight to go in search of the airport office to ask to review Part 21 of the DOT Regs.
This notice looks like it's been hanging here since 1964. Which, of course, reminded me of the role Memphis has played in civil rights...
"Discrimination in the use of services and facilities on this airport property is prohibited by Title VI of The Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Any instance of discriminatory treatment on the part of any employee, tenant, or concessionaire of this airport should be reported, within 90 days of the alleged discrimination, to the Federal Aviation Administration, Office of Civil Rights, 800 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington D.C. 20590. A copy of Part 21 of the Department of Transportation Regulations is available for review at the airport office."

That sign is awesome. Strangely ominous-looking for something declaring one's civil rights.

Thanks! I've never noticed these in airports before, so I'll have to keep an eye out for any others.
Wow. Nice take on this task. Great find.
