I did this task last weekend. Led by a friend who knew the way in, a group of three of us went into Wheeler Hall on the UC Berkeley campus after hours. The old way to get to the roof - through a window that you could climb up to from the landing in the stairwell between the second and third floors, then up a statue of giant cup - was closed off. Instead, we had to find a new way up.
This was my moment of pride. They didn't think I'd be able to find a way, but I scrambled out the window on the third floor and after searching for 5 minutes, I found a way to climb to the fourth floor (locked from the stairwell), where there was an open window to the Men's bathroom (glad it wasn't the Women's, I'm no pervert!), carefully closed the door so it wouldn't lock, and sent an elevator down to my co-conspirators.
We came back to the bathroom and went back out the window where we had access to a large air duct that was easily climbable, and made it to the roof of the building. We stayed there for half an hour or so admiring the night sky over Berkeley, saturated in that red sodium lighting glow, lights in buildings sparkling like little stars through their own little building-shaped universes.
Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries well before then. Anyone else who knows the way in will recognize at least that we got into the building from this earlier photo.
